Mike Thomson watched a fellow newsletter creator burn out last month.

4 hours brainstorming topics. 2 more hours drafting. Another hour breaking it into tweets and LinkedIn posts.

By the time they hit "Publish," they were too exhausted to promote it.

I've been there. Feel like I'm there a lot.

As solopreneurs, we're doing everything.

AI can help, but we still get caught up in the same traps that Mike identifies: repetition, context loss, workflow bloat.

He shows how GPT-5 solves these three specific problems that older models couldn't handle.

Result?

  • Consistent voice across all formats.

  • Zero tool-switching.

  • Complete content packages from a single conversation.

The three problems GPT-5 solves:

1 - Use Trigger Words

Problem 1: Voice Drift

Older models forgot your tone and audience between sessions. You'd constantly re-train them on your style.

GPT-5's persistent memory changes this. Mike shares a one-time setup prompt that teaches it his audience, tone, and structure preferences—then it remembers forever.

Problem 2: Format Fragmentation

Each platform (Twitter, LinkedIn, email) ended up sounding like different people wrote it.

Mike's all-in-one repurposing prompt gets GPT-5 to create 7 different content formats while maintaining voice consistency across all of them.

Problem 3: Model Switching

You used to need GPT-4 for thinking, GPT-4o for speed, o3 for analysis. Constant tool-switching killed momentum.

His seamless creation prompt leverages GPT-5's auto-switching to handle strategy, writing, and repurposing in one conversation without losing context.

My Take

GPT-5 is more powerful, but you have to know how to use it.

My experience?

It still takes effort to get the results I want, especially for writing.

When it keeps missing the mark, I switch to Claude for better output.

But Mike's got some solid prompts that I'm testing out.

I just tried one of them: it gave me 4 weeks' worth of newsletter ideas, then helped me create a detailed post and all the social content to go with it.

Worth checking out his prompts.

Also worth reading my last issue about getting the most out of GPT-5 in general.

The bottom line:

These models are tools. The better you understand how to use them, the better results you get.
