"The real problem is not whether machines think but whether men do."
B.F. Skinner
Most people treat AI like a replacement writer.
Feed it a topic. Get generic copy back. Spend 30 minutes editing it to sound human.
That's backwards.
The smart move?
Train AI to write like you first.
Then every email starts 90% done in your actual voice.
Result?
Cut writing time from 45 minutes to 15.
Consistent tone across every email.
Zero "does this sound like me?" rewrites.
How To Do It
Step 1: Gather 7-10 email samples
✅ Written by you (not AI)
✅ Match the style you want to replicate
✅ Reflect your actual tone
Step 2: Feed them to AI with this prompt:
I need you to analyze my email writing style. I'm providing 7–10 of my email samples below. Please examine these emails and create a comprehensive voice profile that captures how I write.
Please analyze:
LANGUAGE PATTERNS
– Vocabulary level and word choice
– Sentence length and structure
– Paragraph length preferences
– Grammar formality levelTONE & PERSONALITY
– Overall energy level (calm vs enthusiastic)
– Humor style (if any)
– Emotional warmth level
– Professional vs casual balanceSTRUCTURAL HABITS
– How I typically open emails
– How I organize information
– How I close emails
– Transition patterns between topicsUNIQUE MARKERS
– Phrases I frequently use
– Punctuation habits
– Any distinctive quirks
– Specific words or expressions that are "very me"COMMUNICATION STYLE
– Direct vs indirect
– How much context I provide
– Question usage patterns

– A 2–3 paragraph summary of my voice
– A bullet list of my key writing characteristics
– 3–5 examples of typical phrases/sentences that capture my style
MY EMAIL SAMPLES:
[Paste 7–10 emails here]
Step 3: Build your Voice Clone prompt
Take the analysis and create a reusable prompt:
"You are my email writing assistant. Write in my voice using this profile: [paste analysis]. When I give you a topic or raw idea, draft an email that matches my style exactly."
Step 4: Test and refine
Give it a topic.
Check the output.
Adjust the instructions until it nails your voice.
My Take
It’s easy to jump straight to "write me an email about X" and wonder why it sounds like a robot.
Here's what you miss when you write with AI:
This isn't about outsourcing your brain to AI.
Your voice is your edge.
AI should’t replace it.
AI should amplify it.
The best workflow is:
Idea First — You bring the story, concept, or raw draft (voice note works great- I use Flow for this)
AI Draft — Feed it to your trained bot to structure and polish
Final Edit — Add finishing touches so it feels 100% yours
Done right, this process lets you move faster without losing yourself to AI.
