She Built Her Own AI Tool (And Now Sells It)

"There has to be an easier way to repurpose my heartfelt ideas without all the extra effort."
Jenny Ouyang built an app that turns her long-form content into engaging short posts for LinkedIn, Substack, X, and other platforms.
But she didn't just solve her own problem.
She created a solution she could package and sell to others.
Her app generates 18 notes per post—categorized as Provoking, Educational, or Entertaining—and can even integrate with Substack to pull your entire publication feed.
Result?
A solution to her own content repurposing challenge
A new product she can sell to other creators
A business model with recurring revenue
How she did it
Here's her strategic approach:
Identified a real need: She recognized her own struggle with repurposing content
Defined clear requirements: Turned articles into quotes, Substack integration, simple paste functionality
Started with a basic MVP: Used AI to generate notes from her Substack articles without coding
Gathered feedback: Showed her initial version to users and improved the UI based on responses
Refined the product: Added logo, color themes, and improved the structure
Overcame technical challenges: Worked through timeout issues and deployment hurdles
Implemented a business model: Created a credit system to keep the service sustainable
My take
There's nothing lazy about what Jenny did here.
What I love about this story is how she went beyond just solving her own problem.
She saw an opportunity to create something valuable for others.
This is the real power of AI for solopreneurs today.
Not just using tools but creating them.
With no-code builders and AI assistance, you can now build solutions that:
Solve your own business challenges
Can be packaged as products
Create new revenue streams
Too often we get stuck in the mindset of just being consumers of AI tools. Jenny shows us we can be creators of them too.
And while her app helps with content repurposing (which we've covered in recent issues here and here), the bigger lesson is about seeing problems as product opportunities.
That's entrepreneurial thinking at its best.
Oh, and I tried her app and got some great inspiration for Substack Notes.
