Chris Penn had a problem.
His Marketing over Coffee newsletter should go out monthly. Instead it goes quarterly.
Not because it's hard to write. Because sitting down to write that "ugly first draft" keeps getting pushed to tomorrow.
So he built a detailed AI prompt that takes podcast transcripts and spits out newsletter drafts.
Result?
73 seconds to generate a complete first draft.
What used to take 2 hours now takes 15 minutes.
Monthly newsletters instead of quarterly ones.
How he did it
Here's his process:
✅ Get transcripts → Used Fireflies to transcribe 9 podcast episodes (I use Descript for this)
✅ Build the "recipe" → Created a 200-line prompt with specific templates, formatting rules, and step-by-step instructions
✅ Feed the ingredients → Gave AI the transcripts, ideal customer profile, and sponsor info
✅ Let it cook → 73 seconds later: complete newsletter draft in markdown format
The prompt isn't magic. It's just very specific about what it wants:
Episode summaries written for his ideal customer
Clickable links in the right format
Sponsor sections in the right spots
"Fun stuff" pulled from non-marketing content mentioned in episodes
My Take
When you're talking (podcast, video, coaching call), you're more natural. More yourself.
You speak faster than you write.
You give more context.
You're less filtered.
This isn't just about creating newsletters from a podcast.
It's about using your most natural content as raw material for everything else.
Got a coaching call transcript? Turn it into blog posts.
Recorded a video explaining something? Turn it into social media threads.
Did a podcast interview? Turn it into email sequences.
The process is simple:
Create once in your most natural format.
Then let AI help you reshape it into everything else.
Most of us miss this unlock.
